Candy AI review: real prices and what the free tier delivers

Candy AI is the most advertised AI girlfriend in the category: chat, photos, videos, voice and characters created by you, all in an interface that feels like a social network. In this review we report what we measured with a free account on 16 September 2026, what each plan costs in practice and where the token model weighs. In short: the free tier is good for getting to know the interface and nothing more; the real experience starts with Premium, and even there the visuals cost extra.

Pros and cons

What we measured on 16 September 2026

We created a free account with no card and chatted with two characters. The figures below are what we saw on screen, not what the site promises.

• Five messages in total, across all characters. On the sixth, the text field opens the “Upgrade to Unlock Unlimited Messages” window and the message does not go out.
• One image on the free plan, and blurred. The subscription window itself lists “Remove image blur” as a Premium benefit.
• One custom character allowed on the free account, according to the help centre; we did not use ours.
• Catalogue video at 29 tokens. We asked the character how much the locked video it was offering cost, and the answer was “twenty-nine tokens”. As the free account has no tokens, the button leads to the subscription.
• Short-term memory correct. We asked it to repeat our first question and it got it right.
• No audio from the “digital twin” characters. Bonnie Blue, a character based on a real creator, replied that she only sends text and catalogue videos.
• Spanish in the chat is still to be measured. Our test was written in Portuguese and the character replied in European Portuguese, with a stray Chinese character in the middle of a sentence. The help centre does include Spanish among the interface languages. We will measure the conversation in Spanish and date it, as on the other lines.

Candy AI’s real prices

The plans page showed the amounts in euros in our session, made from Europe. In Latin America the site usually shows dollars or the local currency; the plan structure is the same. The three plans give access to the same Premium, what changes is the commitment.

The annual plan’s 70% discount is permanent in practice: it is in the side menu, on the plans page and on a card with a countdown among the characters. Treat €3.99 per month as the normal annual price, not as a promotion that ends.

Checked again on 3 November 2026 on Candy AI’s public plans page, which opens with no account: €13.99, €8.99 and €3.99 per month, with the quarterly plan charged €26.97 and the annual €47.88. The monthly plan charges €9.99 for the first month, then €13.99. When you pick a payment method, a payment every 2 weeks (€9.79) and a weekly one (€5.60) also appear. All of them renew automatically at the same price and term until you cancel, and the page warns that local taxes may be added. Outside Europe, the same amounts are shown in dollars.

What Premium unlocks, and what still costs tokens

Premium unlocks unlimited messages, character creation, 18+ images and videos and Live Action mode. But “unlock” means “be allowed to spend tokens on”: generating an image, turning an image into a video, creating a character, listening to a voice message, making a voice call and unlocking private content packs all consume the 100 monthly tokens. When they run out, the site offers standalone packs on a page only subscribers can access; on the free account it redirects to the home page. Unused tokens are kept if you cancel, but they only reappear when you subscribe again.

Refund: up to 24 hours after payment, if you have spent 20 tokens or fewer, and only for card payments. Worth knowing before trying image generation on day one.

How it works

Ready-made characters and digital twins

The showcase separates Girls, Anime and Guys, with filters by ethnicity, age and hair. Some of the profiles are “Candy Creators”: digital twins of real content creators, with a video catalogue unlocked with tokens. They chat like any other character, but do not generate images or voice on request, as we saw in the test.

Creating your own AI girlfriend

The creator starts with the choice between realistic and anime, then moves through ethnicity, body, face, clothing, personality and voice, in steps with ready-made options. It is quick and does not require writing a prompt. The free account can create one character; each additional creation consumes tokens.

Images and videos

Images are born inside the chat, with requests starting with “Send me” or “Show me”, or with the “Show the scene” button. Video is not generated from scratch: first you generate the image, then the site offers to turn it into a short clip. There is also “Build Your Video”, which assembles a scene with character, action and setting from presets, and Candy Shorts, mini-series generated by the platform to watch without chatting.

Voice, calls and Live Action

Voice messages and calls are in Premium and consume tokens. Live Action, an interactive video experience with an action menu, exists only on mobile, for subscribers and on selected characters. There is no app on the App Store or Google Play: the site installs as a web app with the “Add to Home Screen” option.

What to know before subscribing

• Tokens are the real currency. One hundred tokens a month run out fast if you generate images daily; the cost per image is not published in a table as it is at SoulGen.
• Manufactured urgency. 24-hour countdowns and a permanent “70% OFF” on every page. Ignore the clock.
• Recurring billing. The annual plan renews at the end of the year; you cancel from your profile, and cancelling deletes neither the account nor the tokens.
• Language. Spanish is listed among the interface languages in its help centre. We will measure and date the quality of the chat in Spanish, we do not take it for granted.

Who it is for

For anyone who wants a complete AI girlfriend, with a consistent character, pictures of her and long conversations, and accepts paying an annual plan of about €48 plus tokens whenever they want more visual content. Image quality and character consistency are its strong point, and the guided creator is the simplest on the list.

Who it is not for

For anyone who wants to try it for free: five messages are not enough to judge anything. For anyone who wants to generate images in volume: tokens become the biggest expense.
